Broadcast
Broadcast unveils two new collections of previously unreleased demos with Spell Blanket and Distant Call.
Spell Blanket features songs and sketches from Trish Keenan’s extensive archive of 4-track tapes and MiniDiscs. The recordings set the scene for what would have been Broadcast’s fifth album, offering a window into the band’s creative process in the post-Tender Buttons period from 2006 to 2009.
Unlike Spell Blanket, Distant Call is a collection of early demos that were transformed into final productions appearing on Haha Sound, Tender Buttons and The Future Crayon.
Distant Call also includes two songs discovered by James Cargill after the death of Trish Keenan: ‘Come Back To Me’ and ‘Please Call To Book’, which is his response to Broadcast’s 2006 Let’s Write A Song project, in which fans were invited to submit lyrics on a postcard, which would then be incorporated into a finished song.
Distant Call is the final chapter of Broadcast and the band’s final album.
